			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As we know a lot of fast food chains has tried to go green not by being environmental friendly but by introducing salads and claims to be healthier. Recently, McD has take up a notch by signing a deal with Weight watchers and has successfully &#8220;certified&#8221; three items in their menu to be healthy.</p>
<blockquote><p>Three McDonald&#8217;s meals, including Chicken McNuggets, carrying the Weight    Watchers logo will be sold in the fast food chain in New Zealand from this    week and will be introduced into Australia in the next few months.</p>
<p>As part of the deal, McDonald&#8217;s will use the Weight Watchers logo on its menu    boards and Weight Watchers will promote McDonald&#8217;s food to dieters.</p>
<p>So far, <strong>the Fillet-O-Fish, with 18g of fat and 380 calories; Chicken    McNuggets, with 29g of fat and 485 calories; and Sweet Chilli Seared Chicken    Wrap, with 18.8g of fat and 404 calories, </strong>have been approved by Weight    Watchers.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>However, <strong>Chicken McNuggets with 485 calories for 10 pieces makes up almost a    third of the number of calories the average woman should consume in a day,    even when not on a diet. The NHS recommends women should consume 1,500    calories a day and men 2,000.</strong></p>

<blockquote><p>While we look at the mind boggling &#8220;healthy&#8221; but calories for a meal, imagine Nuggets for lunch or dinner, clearly there&#8217;s insufficient nutrients for our body which is made up of 100 trillion cells.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>So, maybe it&#8217;s not so much of a wise choice to take McNuggets as your dinner, pretty much common sense is all you need.</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p><strong>While dining out, ask yourself:-</strong></p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>1) Where&#8217;s my vegetables/Fruits/Fiber?</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>2) Is it colorful? (Read: not coloring, but variety)</p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p>3) Is this going to fill me up? Give me the energy I need? Not just tasty on the tongue?</p></blockquote>

<p>Most of the time one aspect is highlighted (e.g. no fat, no meat)<strong> instead of highlighting what is missing</strong>.</p>
<p>No Carbs, No fat, Atkins, The Zone, Calorie Controlled Meal Replacements, Fruit diet like (Apple, Grapefruit, Lemon) to name a few. We have had customers that spent unbelievable amount of money on spas and slimming centers that &#8220;promises&#8221; to drop your kilos with their 1000 sessions. Money is one factor, but ask anyone who has tried slimming treatments, it&#8217;s pretty torturing as well. No pain no gain? Wrong.</p>
<p>Eliminate this and that and we&#8217;re still back at every beginning of the year making the same resolutions, which is to &#8220;lose weight&#8221;. Soon enough, after a couple of times trying, we either give up or just make up some excuse for our &#8220;inability&#8221; to lose weight (blame-it-on-the-hormones).</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;So, I&#8217;m still overweight. What do I do? I&#8217;ve tried every possible thing on earth!&#8221;</strong></p>

<p>Professor Steve Field, chair of the Royal College of GPs, said most of the focus in recent years had been on weight.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is the weight around your belly which really does the harm.</p>
<p>&#8220;A lot of these things take a while to get into people&#8217;s heads especially as there has been so much focus on weight and body mass index.</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m not surprised at the findings because it will take more than a few academic papers to really change people&#8217;s minds.&#8221;</strong></p>

<p><strong>Waist measurement</strong></p>
<p>Research has shown that waist circumference is a good indicator of visceral fat and therefore of a person&#8217;s risk of diseases associated with being overweight, such as type 2 diabetes.</p>
<p>The report pointed out that when weight is lost visceral fat is more easily broken down for energy than the fat immediately under the skin and even a small amount of weight loss can cause a difference.</p>
<p>When asked about losing weight, two-thirds of respondents said they would go on a diet in the New Year.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>(AP) </strong> <!-- sphereit start--> Prapai Lertphiphat is an average Thai woman: <strong>short and slender, a picture of perfect health.</strong></p>
<p><strong>But in Asia, appearances can be deceptive. The 44-year-old hospital clerk is suffering from the classic disease of overweight people: hypertension, or high blood pressure.</strong></p>
<p>Prapai is not alone in her plight.</p>
<p>After a series of independent surveys in 10 Asian countries, researchers have come up with an alarming conclusion — millions of people like Prapai in the region have symptoms of obesity, despite their small frames and apparent lack of excess fat.</p>
<p>It is not that Asians have suddenly become unhealthy. It&#8217;s just that health experts had all along been applying a global standard, known as body mass index, to measure obesity that was unsuited to Asians.</p>
<p>To help doctors prevent obesity-related ailments, the World Health Organization established in 1997 a body mass index standard, calculated by dividing a person&#8217;s weight in kilograms by height in meters squared. A BMI of 25 is overweight, and 30 is obese.</p>
<p>But the 10-country research showed that Asians had more fat content compared to Caucasians, which meant that a BMI of 25 was way above overweight for Asians.</p>
<p>In response, a group of WHO experts in July recommended an Asian optimal BMI of 23. Anything over it should be considered overweight and a health risk, they said.</p>

<p>Janifer, 33 years old was last week&#8217;s biggest loser.</p>
<p>She lost a total of 2.2 kilos with 2.43% and shaped up more than 5 inches.</p>
<p>For those of you who doesn&#8217;t know Janifer, a mother of two and housewife has spent more than RM 40,000 just to keep off the weight. Without the understanding of how her body works, she waited 8 years for her 2nd pregnancy, her baby boy is 8 months old now. I met Janifer, when she was at 95 kilos, sceptical and looking for a way to stay healthy.</p>
<p>The first 5 days on a healthy breakfast program, she lost 2.4 kilos. From then onwards, she continued to lose 0.5 kilos, with increased muscle mass and water level.</p>
<p>She then joined our weight loss challenge for the group support system and right coaching. In one week, she has lost  2.2 kilos and now in total 6 kilos in a month. The best part now, is that she didn&#8217;t need to starve like her previous diets and treatments, no longer struggling to breathe because of her asthma condition, no more knee pain, great energy to play with her children.</p>
